1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how BookBolt ("BookBolt", "we", "our" or "us") collects, uses, stores and protects information about users ("you") when you access or use our mobile application (the "App").

By downloading, accessing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the practices described in it. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the App.

We are committed to handling your personal information in a responsible, transparent and secure manner, in line with generally accepted data protection principles.

2. Information We Collect

We aim to collect only the information that is necessary to provide, maintain and improve the App and your user experience.

2.1. Personal Information You Provide

When you use the App, we may collect the following types of personal information that you provide directly:

• Name: This may include your first name and last name or display name, as made available through your sign-in method.
• Email address: This is used for account identification, sign-in and communication purposes.

If you choose to sign in using third-party services (such as Google or Apple), we may receive basic profile information from those services, typically including your name and email address, as further described in Section 5 below.

At this time, we do not intentionally collect other categories of personal information beyond what is described above, unless you voluntarily provide such information when communicating with us via the contact options within the App.

2.2. Information Collected Automatically (Technical and Usage Data)

When you use the App, certain limited technical and usage information may be collected automatically in order to ensure the operation and security of the App and to understand usage patterns in a generic and non-identifying way. This may include:

• Device information such as device type, operating system, app version and language settings.
• Log information such as the date and time you access the App, the features you use, performance data and error or crash reports.
• General, aggregated usage data that does not identify you personally, used for analytics and improvement.

This type of information is, as far as reasonably possible, collected and used in a way that does not directly identify you. We do not currently use this information to create profiles or to make automated decisions about you.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect about you for the following purposes:

• Providing and Operating the App: We use your information to create, maintain and manage your user account, to authenticate your access, and to provide you with the core features and functionality of the App.
• Managing Your Account and Sign-In: We use your name and email address, including information received from sign-in providers, to allow you to sign in securely to the App and to associate your activity with your user account.
• Communication with You: We may use your email address or in-App notifications to send you important information about the App, such as updates, changes to features or policies, security alerts or technical notices, and to respond to your inquiries, support requests or feedback submitted through the App's contact options.
• Improving the App and User Experience: We may use aggregated and non-identifying usage information, as well as limited technical data, to understand how the App is used, to analyze performance, and to develop, test and improve existing and new features and services.
• Security and Abuse Prevention: We may use information (including technical and log data) to maintain the security of the App, to detect, prevent and address misuse, fraud, abuse, technical issues or violations of our terms or policies.
• Legal and Compliance Purposes: We may use your information as we consider necessary or appropriate to comply with applicable law, to respond to legal requests, to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and to enforce our terms and policies.

We do not use your personal information for unsolicited marketing communications or advertising within or outside the App, unless this is clearly described and you have an appropriate opportunity to choose.

4. Legal Bases / Grounds for Processing

We process your personal information on a limited number of grounds that are generally recognized in data protection frameworks. Depending on how and where you use the App, one or more of the following grounds may apply:

• Performance of a Contract or Provision of Services: We process your information where it is necessary to provide you with the App and its features, to manage your user account, and to fulfill our obligations relating to your use of the App.
• Your Consent: In some cases, we may ask for your consent to process specific information or to enable certain features. Where we rely on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
• Legitimate Interests: We may process your information where it is necessary for our legitimate interests, or those of a third party, and where such interests are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms. This includes, for example, our interest in maintaining and improving the App and user experience, ensuring the security and integrity of our systems, responding to your questions and feedback, and preventing fraud or misuse.
• Legal Obligations: We may process your information to comply with legal obligations to which we are subject, such as recordkeeping, responding to lawful requests and orders from authorities, or fulfilling other legal or regulatory requirements.

5. Sign-In and Third-Party Services

5.1. Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In

The App supports sign-in through third-party authentication services, such as Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In.

When you choose to sign in using one of these services, your authentication is handled securely by the respective provider. We do not receive or store your passwords for these services.

Depending on your settings with the sign-in provider, and subject to your authorization, we may receive basic profile information from that provider, typically including:

• Your name; and
• Your email address.

We use this information to create and manage your account in the App, to identify you as a user, and to provide you with access to your data and features within the App.

5.2. Control by Third-Party Providers

Your use of third-party sign-in services is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of those providers. We encourage you to review the relevant terms and privacy notices of Google and Apple to understand how they handle your information.

We do not have control over, and do not accept responsibility for, the privacy practices of these third-party providers.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

We may share or disclose your information only in the limited circumstances described below and always in line with this Privacy Policy.

6.1. Service Providers and Technical Partners

We may engage third parties to provide certain services or technical infrastructure in connection with the App, such as:

• Hosting and cloud storage;
• Maintenance, security and performance monitoring;
• Analytics or crash reporting tools that use aggregated or non-identifying data.

Where such third parties have access to your personal information, they are only permitted to process it on our behalf and according to our instructions, and they are required to protect it appropriately and to use it solely for the purposes for which it was provided.

We may share or publish aggregated or otherwise non-identifying information, which does not directly identify you, for purposes such as analyzing usage trends, improving the App or providing general statistics.

We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or destruction.

These measures may include, for example:

• Use of secure connections when transmitting data;
• Limited access to personal information to personnel and service providers who need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy;
• Internal policies and practices designed to maintain the security and integrity of our systems.

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. Therefore, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your devices and account credentials.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:

• For the duration of your use of the App and the life of your user account;
• For a reasonable period afterward, where necessary for maintaining backups, ensuring the security and stability of our systems, complying with legal or regulatory obligations, and resolving disputes or enforcing our rights.

When your personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, we will take reasonable steps to delete it, anonymize it, or otherwise remove it from active use in a secure manner, unless we are legally required to keep it for a longer period.

• Access: You may have the right to request confirmation of whether we process information about you, and to request access to that information.

• Restriction or Objection: You may have the right to request that we restrict certain processing of your personal information, or to object to certain types of processing, especially where we rely on our legitimate interests.
• Withdrawal of Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your personal information, you may withdraw that consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal, but it may affect our ability to provide certain features or services.

To exercise any of these rights or to make a request in relation to your information, you may contact us through the contact options provided within the App. We may ask you to provide certain information to help us verify your identity before responding to your request.

We will consider and respond to your request in a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable laws.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age threshold that is generally recognized for requiring parental consent in many jurisdictions (such as 13 or 16 years of age).

If you are under this age threshold, you should not use the App or provide any personal information through the App.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child below such an age threshold without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information as soon as possible.

If you believe that we may have collected information from a child in a manner not permitted by this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the contact options provided within the App so that we can address the issue.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be stored and processed in different locations, and may be transferred between different countries or regions, depending on where you are located and where our or our service providers' systems are based.

By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries or regions that may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country, but where we will apply protections in line with this Privacy Policy.

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App, our data practices or applicable requirements.

When we make changes, we will post the updated Privacy Policy within the App and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. In some cases, we may provide additional notice within the App, such as through an in-App message or notification.

You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we collect, use and protect your information. Your continued use of the App after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
